I just learned that Leroy Grannis passed away yesterday. I fell in love with his photography when a friend bought me his book. The pictures in it amazed me. I had seen most of them before because they are all so famous; his photography filled most of the Surf magazines in the 60s. He focused mainly on the surf spots in Southern California (like SanO, Malibu, Hermosa Beach, and HB) and the North Shore of Hawaii. As a photographer, Grannis ranks top three in my book. He lived a great life and made it to 93 years old. Nevertheless, we lost a legend yesterday. Here are couple of my favorites...
Henry Ford at Hermosa Beach
Iconic Miki Dora noseride at Malibu
Unknown at Makaha
